In the first half of this year, Indian auto industry grew largely due to increase in export sales that is increased by more than 24 percent as compared to the last year. The car companies are enjoying growth in the consecutive seventh month, June. Thanks to the new car launches and low interest rate on auto loans. Maruti Suzuki continued its strong performance by selling 61,773 vehicles in th month which is 10 per cent more than in the same period last year. It also posted a three-fold increase in exports to 13,336 vehicles , taking its June tally 75,109 units. Robust exports helped Hyundai Motor India post 18% increase in sales in June to 47,267 cars. Tata Motors posted flat sales at 17,039 cars in the month compared with 17,017 units sold in June last year. Sales of the Indigo sedan declined 26% to 3,522 units in the month.

Auto industry has witnessed a modest growth of three per cent in the year 2008-09. It was 13.6 per cent in 2006-07 while it fell into red (-2.3%) in 2007-08. Government has no control over car price hike! Yes, the officials said that if there is any tax-payers' money involved, the government will monitor that otherwise not. A senior government official said on Tuesday that government was worried about the car price hike despite of stimulus packages and falling demand. A West Bengal based automobile company is all set to launch a small car by June this year. Its Ural India which is prepared to launch the car with a Russian firm. The Chinese dragon has set its eyes on the Indian car market. Two leading automakers, Chery Automobile and Great Wall Motors are planning to enter India soon through joint ventures, senior company officials revealed at Shanghai Motor Show.

The Indian Auto industry somehow managed to record positive growth in the fiscal ended March 31. Tata Motors denied payment problems after the recent non payment accusations in media. According to Tata Motors said that the payment of purchases from vendors have been paid immediately through an arrangement with banks.
Under an agreement between the company, banks and vendors, known as the Bill Marketing Scheme, the bank pays the vendor for purchases by Tata Motors and the company pays the banks after some time, said the company’s managing director Ravi Kant.

PSA Peugeot Citroën (previously Peugeot Société Anonyme),a French automobile and motorcycle manufacturer,is also planning to launch its new low-cost car in Indian car market by 2011.The cars will be manufactured in Turkey as well as Poland.The 5-seater car is expected to have more space for luggage and stowage then any other car in this segment.In india,small and low-cost car market is growing day-by-day.Small car sales in India amount to nearly two-third of the total car sales in the country.Every car manufacturer like like General Motors, Renault-Nissan, Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Hyundai et al are with launching new low cost cars as well as mid-size sedans.
