2015 Audi TT Coupe unveiled at 2014 Geneva Motor Show

Audi has taken wrap off from the third generation of the TT coupe at the ongoing 84th Geneva Motor Show. The iconic TT was launched in 1998, the curvaceous design won millions of heart across the world. The 2015 Audi TT showcased at the Geneva seems to be inspired from the 'Sports Quattro Concept' that we have recently seen at the 12th Indian Auto Expo. Audi also showcased a more powerful version of the 2015 TT in a concept form christened as Audi TT Quattro Sports Concept.

2015 TT unveiled at the Geneva will also replace the current TT being sold in India. At the outset, you will notice that even after retaining all the classic TT curves you will witness new edgy and masculine design similar to that of the 'Sports Quattro Concept'. Speaking of the front, you will get to see large hexagonal grille and an optional LED lighting equipped horizontally placed wrap around headlamps. Front bumpers also sports large twin air diffusers. The rear of the coupe is similar in terms of design with the current version of TT on sale. The integrated spoiler pops out at the speed in excess of 121kmph.

According to Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management of Audi AG for Technical Development, said, "The Audi TT is the epitome of an authentic design icon and a top-performance driving machine. With the new generation, we are making this technology even easier for the driver to experience – just as they would expect from a real sports car."

The new coupe is based on the Volkswagen MQB platform, courtesy to the platform the car is now 50kg lighter with figures rolling to 1230kg. The overall length stands at 4180mm, turning out to be 20mm shorter! Width is down by 8mm to 1832mm; and height remained same at 1353mm. Boot space of the coupe is 305 liter increased by 13 litre! The 2015 coupe will get new interiors, the highlight of all is the state of the art 12.3 inch fully digital Nvidia Tegra 30 GPU powered instrumentation cluster. Other features include, The Jet turbine engine inspired AC vents, powerful Bang and Olufsen 12 speaker, 14 channel amplifier and 2 door mounted woofers system for a pure and rich sound! There's a new multifunction bottom flat steering wheel.

Mechanically, the India bound car will be powered by an uprated 4-cylinder 2.0 litre TFSI turbo petrol engine mustering 230bhp of max power and 370Nm of peak torque coupled to a lightning fast all wheel drive S-Tronic Dual Clutch transmission propelling the coupe from 0-100kmph in 5.3 seconds. The company will also offer six speed manual in front wheel drive layout. Audi also showcased the TTS variants of 2015 TT gathering 310bhp and 380Nm from the same 2.0 TFSI mill and a 2.0 TDI turbo diesel producing 184bhp and 380Nm of max torque, on the downside, none of the two engines are coming to India. Audi Indiais currently selling the 2.0 TFSI in 208bhp tune state in TT and there is no market for a diesel coupe in our country although company might bring the TTS variants.

The sportier concept version of the 2015 TT, TT Sports Quattro Concept churns out 420bhp of power and 450Nm of max torque from the same 2.0 TFSI powertrain, coupled to a lightning fast S-Tronic Dual Clutch transmission powering all the wheels-Quattro. The coupe flaunts Audi's Matrix LED lighting system. Audi didn't say anything about the launch of this TT concept, but it supposedly the glimpse of the track biased future TT versions.
