2014 Nissan Sunny: the 10 highlights, to be priced around Rs 6 lakh 30 thousand

Nissan Sunny, the saloon which was advertised as a long 'caaaaarr' has recently been given a major facelift which is expected to be out either by this month end or in July. Showcased during this year's Auto Expo, Nissan is out to refresh the aging sedan's shelve life and at the same time lure more and more consumers towards it.  Falling under the growing C Segment, Sunny will be locking horns with segment leaders such as Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Fiat Linea to once again cement its position within its segment. Though for the Japanese carmaker, the competition does not ends here, as the VW siblings Vento and Rapid also hammer the sales of Sunny.

With a refreshed model set to come, here are the list of 10 things you will find interesting in the new Nissan Sunny.

1) The front end of the car now gets a large front grille with chrome surrounds, redesigned headlamps and chrome embellishment to differentiate it from the ongoing model. LED side blinkers and restyled fog lamps have also made their way through the facelifted version.

2) The rear profile gets a chrome treatment which gives the car a more premium and stylish look.

3) Inside the cabin, the facelifted version gets a Piano Black center console, leather wrapped steering and gear knob, smart keyless entry with trunk release function and engine start/stop button.

4) A 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system comes with USB, AUX-IN and Bluetooth connectivity. The music can also be controlled via steering mounted controls and to beat the heat, Sunny comes with an automatic climate control.

5) Seats are wide and comfortable which provide comfortable seating position even on the long drives. With a wheelbase of 2600mm, the car gets sufficiently larger knee, leg and head room as compared to its nearest rivals. The car gets a large boot space of 490litres, though the the overall length of 4425mm is mostly used to provide the passenger, a spacious interiors.

6)  Mechanically, the car will carry forward its tried and tested engine range. The petrol model therefore features a 1.5-litre HR15 engine that develops two power outputs in the range of 97.7bhp and 99.9bhp with the peak torque of 134Nm@4000rpm.

7) The diesel model on the other hand, houses a 1.5-litre K9K engine which churns a power output of 84.8bhp and torque of 200Nm@2000rpm.

8) The petrol model comes with an option of a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox while the diesel model is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

9) For the safety of its passenger, Sunny comes with dual front SRS airbags for both driver and passenger,  Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).

10) In terms of pricing, it is expected that the facelift version will come in the same price range. The ongoing base petrol variant of Nissan Sunny is priced at Rs 6.30 lakh while the base diesel model is priced at Rs 8.48 lakh. Moreover, the top-end variant in petrol comes at a price of Rs 8.94 lakh and the top-end diesel is priced at Rs 9.86 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
