Evalia XV Review

Nissan India Motor Pvt. Ltd has launched the 2014 version of its spacious MPV, Evalia in the country's car market. It is available in quite a few trim levels for the buyers to choose from. Among them Nissan Evalia XV is one of the top end variant, which is equipped with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This New utility vehicle is being offered in some of the most refreshing exterior paint options, which are Storm White, Pearl White, Blade Silver, Aqua Green, Onyx Black, Brick Red and Titanium Grey with metallic finish. The overall dimensions are quite standard and can accommodate seven passengers with ease. It is designed with an overall length of 4400rpm along with a decent height of 1860mm. The width is about 1700mm, which includes external rear view mirrors. It comes with a large wheelbase of 2725mm, which ensures a spacious cabin inside. The decent ground clearance (174mm) has the capability of dealing with terrains. It has a 55 litre fuel tank, which is perfect for planning longer journeys. As far as its design is concerned, this newly launched vehicle comes with V-shaped chrome garnished radiator grille and also gets some additional internal features, which are faux wood finished center console, a trendy glove box with lid and premium floor mats.

Exteriors:

The front facade is done up elegantly and has a modified front radiator grille with some chrome treatment. It is embossed with a chrome plated company logo in the center. This radiator grille is surrounded by a large headlamp cluster, which is equipped with halogen lamps and side turn indicator. Below this grille is the body colored bumper, which has an airdam that is flanked by a couple of bright fog lamps. The large windscreen is made of green tinted glass and is integrated with a set of wipers as well. The side profile comes with a few features like sliding doors and the body colored door handles along with external rear view mirrors. These ORVMs are electrically adjustable and integrated with side blinker . The pronounced wheel arches are fitted with a set of 15 inch alloy wheels, which gives the side profile an elegant look. These rims are covered with 185/65 R15 sized tubeless radial tyres for better grip on the roads. The rear end is very simple with a body colored bumper, a bright tail lamp cluster, which includes reversing lamp and side turn indicator and the large tail gate. The windscreen is integrated with a defogger and a high mounted stop lamp.

Interiors:

The company has has done up the insides of this Nissan Evalia XV variant very elegantly and incorporated it with some sophisticated features. The seating arrangement is very comfortable with well cushioned seats and provide ample leg space for all occupants. These seats are covered with premium fabric upholstery and makes it comfy for longer drives. There are quite a few storage spaces such as a large glove box with lid, bottle and cup holders, pockets behind the front seats, center console tray, front power windows and many other such aspects. All the three rows of seating arrangement are spacious, while there is fair enough space in the boot compartment as well. The dashboard is made of good plastic and equipped with some features like AC vents, a three spoke steering wheel and an instrument cluster with illuminated MID, which houses quite a few functions.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is fitted with a highly acclaimed 1.5 litre diesel engine, which is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system. It has the ability to deliver 15.8 Kmpl in city traffic, while on the highways, its mileage goes up to 19.3. This power plant has the capacity to displace 1461cc. It is integrated with 4 cylinders and 16-valves using a double overhead camshaft based valve configuration. This engine has the ability to churn out a peak power output of 85bhp at 3750rpm in combination with a maximum torque yield of 200Nm at 2000rpm. It is cleverly mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to front wheels.

Braking and Handling:

The company has fitted disc brakes for its front wheels, while the rear wheels get drum brakes. This braking mechanism is further assisted by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist as well, which prevents the vehicle from skidding on roads, when sudden brakes are applied. On the other hand, the rear axle is assembled with multi leaf spring type of mechanism, while the front axle is fitted with a McPherson strut that is accompanied by coil springs. This variant is blessed with a tilt adjustable power steering system, which supports a minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters that is quite decent.

This Nissan Evalia XV variant is integrated with a long list of features that includes electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, front power windows with one touch up and down function, an efficient air conditioning unit with roof mounted AC vents, foldable second and third row seats, seat back table, rear parking camera with display, follow me home headlamps, reading lamp between 2nd and 3rd row seats and many other such aspects. It also has an advanced 2-DIN music system, which is equipped with CD/MP3 player, Radio with AM/FM tuner, USB interface along with four speakers that enhance the in-cabin ambiance.
