The Eon has amazing interiors, especially when you consider the cost of the product. Being a tall boy-ish design, there is sufficient head room. It is the kneeroom which is a bit tight, though better than the Alto.
Step inside the Eon and you will be surprised by the quality of the interiors. Not only go they look up market, but also their feel is good. The price tag of the car seems to be a great value for money for the overall package. The packaging seems to be more of a B segment car, than an A segment.
The space in the Eon is decent, but is much better than its biggest rival, the Alto. The seats of the Eon are comfortable and are of better quality when compared to its competition. The boot space is a bit smaller than what we would have expected. The brilliant ‘Toroidal’ tank in the new Hyundai Eon LPG variants endow with much bigger boot space instead of the archetypal and expected LPG-fitted models that are available in the market today.
D Lite: This is the base variant of the Hyundai Eon and it has no power steering, power windows and is a standard model with child lock, chrome radiator grille, engine immobilizer, rear seat belts, cup holder, remote tail gate release, low fuel indicator and 2-tone beige and brown interiors.
D Lite Plus: This is the improved base model of Hyundai EON and has the same engine specifications and same features as D-Lite but has an AC and full wheel cover.
Era Plus: This version gets tinted glass, body color bumpers are found in this model of Hyundai EON. Other specs are same as predecessor but a metallic finish centre console and electric power steering are introduced in this.
Magna Plus: It gets utility options like rear parcel tray, 2 DIN Radio+CD+MP3 Audio with 2 speakers in front, USB Port, Aux-in Port and a digital clock, Hyundai EON Magna is the best option for you.
Sportz: Hyundai EON Sportz is the suitable choice for those looking for added safety and convenience features. This is the high end variant with all the features offered in other models along with front fog, lamps, driver side airbag, keyless entry, body color outside mirror and door handles, metallic finish 3 spoke steering wheel unlike other variants which have 2 spoke steering. It also adorns metallic finished inside door handles, which enhance the sporty style on EON.
The Eon has a three-pot engine that is derived from Hyundai’s own Santro mill. This motor is shy of one cylinder and the drivability is decent. The new 1.0-litre engine is certainly a lot more powerful.
814cc: The Hyundai EON comes with 814 cc three cylinder SOHC petrol engine that exhibits a decent power of 55bhp at 5500rpm and a torque of 76 Nm at 4000rpm. This engine is Hyundai Santro’s four pot minus one. The NVH levels are low and the Korean automotive giant has done a decent job of reducing the idling for a three-pot motor, though it has some amount of rough idling. The ARAI certified mileage of the petrol version of this car is exceptionally good at 21.1 kmpl.
1.0-litre: The Eon is now being offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine. This is a lot more powerful and more importantly it has better drivability than the 800cc. One doesn’t need to downshift for overtaking. This engine is perfect for this entry-level hatchback. The five-speed manual transmission has slick shifts and the box is easy to shift as well.
The Eon has a pliant ride quality as the suspension absorbs all the jounces and rebounds when even driven on rough roads. The handling is decent for the car, though nothing spectacular or bad.
The ride of the Eon is quite pliant as it glides over potholes. The suspension irons out all the jolts on uneven surfaces and does a good job without causing any jittering to the occupants.
It’s not as sharp or even as planted, but the body roll isn’t excessive, and unless you do something really stupid, it will not get out of hand. Quick direction changes are also managed very well. The steering wheel is light and even the turning radius is small. This makes maneuverability easy in small streets and lane.
The biggest USP in the new Wagon R is its space. The Wagon R has acres of space, while even the interiors look contemporary. The build quality and the feel of the plastics isn't that great, but you can't get any better for this price tag.
The new generation Wagon R might retain similar styling to the previous car on the outside, but the interiors are all new. The Wagon R gets a new instrument panel, with newly designed centre console. Even the instrument cluster gets a dash of orange on it, to make it look sporty. The new steering wheel is similar to that on many other Maruti Suzuki vehicles. This is far superior to the previous generation Wagon R, which did look and feel a generation older in its design.
The new Wagon R is a lot more spacious than the previous generation Wagon R. The first and the second rows, both have sufficient space. There is ample of headroom and legroom in the car in both the rows, and even the boot size is good one. The thigh support on the seats could have been better. The older car didn't have much room for the second row, especially the knee. Also, the new Wagon R is more wider than before, which means more people can sit comfortably in it.
LXi: The LXi is the base model on the Wagon R, like most of the Maruti Suzuki products. It gets power steering, front power windows, air-conditioning. The ORVMs are manually adjustable in this version and it also misses out on integrated audio system.
VXi: The Wagon R doesn't come with a ZXi model and hence, the VXi is the top of the line model. The Wagon R gets rear power windows, integrated audio system with speakers, tachometer, adjustable steering wheel, front and rear fog lamps and vanity mirror.
VXi with ABS : This version gets all the features of VXi with the inclusion of ABS.
The 1.0-litre K-Series engine is a tried and tested mill. It is a happy to revv three pot engine and it is peppier than the older four cylinder 1.1-litre that it replaced. Despite the minus of one-cylinder, there isn't much of vibration during ideal.
The engine on the Wagon R is the Suzuki's K-Series 1.0-litre mill that also powers the Estilo, A-Star and the Alto K10. This engine is highly refined with low levels of NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). The power delivery of this mill is linear and there is sufficient power, not just to potter around in city in a higher gear, but also to make those quick overtaking moves. The five-speed manual transmission on the Wagon R is a cable shift, and the shifts on this transmission are a bit rubbery, despite the throws being short. As per the ARAI cycle, the Wagon R returns a fuel economy of 18.9kmpl.
The Wagon R also comes with a LPG option. Earlier, the company continued to sell the older design in the LPG variant. Now, it is being offered to the current generation. The LPG can be switched back to petrol as well. Hence it is called as Duo. The power from the LPG version is good and as the octane number of LPG is higher, the performance is as good as petrol.
The ride of the Wagon R fairly smooth and composed, as it is designed for this purpose. The handling isn't something that one can flaunt of.
Wagon R is the car for the masses, and hence its ride quality is fairly sorted. With the McPherson struts at the front and the trailing link at the rear, the Wagon R does well on bad roads. It is only the smaller size of the tyre that doesn't help much in absorbing the bumps.
The handling of the Wagon R is just decent. It is built for city driving and some amount of highway; hence the focus has been more on the ride. The new generation Wagon R being a bit wider has better handling than the previous car. The steering wheel is also light and easy to turn and park in the city.
