And it is at the Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen, Germany where each Maybach car is produced in accordance with customers' individual requirements. The Center of Excellence combines personal advice and state-of-the-art technologies that convey the visual and haptic impressions of these exclusive Maybach cars. Customers get to choose from a unique range of exquisite materials, colours and innovative technical details. They can even see the effect of a certain paint finish simulated under a range of lighting conditions. Following a detailed advice session between the customer and exclusive consultants, high-quality one-offs take shape from the 2 million-plus possible variations, with each Maybach car bearing the hallmark of its owner's personal style.
In November 2011, Daimler announced that Maybach will cease to be a brand by 2013. This announcement is due to the poor sales figures of Maybach cars. Only sold 3,000 Maybach cars were sold since the brand's revival in 2002. The decision follows almost a decade of attempts to make Maybach a profitable rival to Rolls Royce and Bentley. It is reported that Maybach will be replaced by new and more luxurious models from the Mercedes-Benz brand, which is also made by Daimler.
