November 25, 2014: The next-gen Ford Figo (aka - KA in Brazil) has won the 2015 Car of the Year award and the Best Design award by the Latin American Auto Press. Made debut first in Brazil couple of months ago in September, the car has garnered overnight success with more than 30,000 units sold till now! KA is Ford's new global hatch and is coming to Asian and European market early next year. India is also getting a compact sedan based on the hatch, the concept of which Ford had showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year. Recently, both the 2015 Figo hatch and its twin compact sedan have made their way in Brazil. Under the Ford's 'One Ford' we will be getting the same cars like we got the EcoSport and Fiesta. Now, Ford Brazil says that they have tried to keep the maintenance cost of both the vehicle as economical as possible. Expect the upcoming 2015 Figo -duo's to feature one of the lowest cost of ownership. Moreover, on the engine front, cars will be getting an all-new petrol engine - 1.0 liter TiVCT motor. While on the diesel front, we expect the 1.5 liter TDCI diesel motor. The current Ford Classic is expected to be replaced by this compact sedan, like Ford did while replacing Ikon with Classic when global Fiesta arrived in India.

This is perhaps one of the most stylish introduction at the expo in India and the debut of this compact sedan marks the company's entry in to the sub-4-meter segment. This latest compact sedan comes with a brand new design language with a trapezoidal radiator grille, blacked out headlamps and other rugged style elements. The market experts suggest that this new concept sedan may replace the Ford Fiesta Class in year 2015. The company has built this sleek sedan on the same B2E platform as the company's compact SUV, Ford EcoSport and its production version is expected to arrive in the auto bazaar somewhere around next year. The Ford Figo Concept Sedan is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol mill and also the revolutionary 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, which was launched with the Ecosport SUV. The other engine option might be the 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is fitted in other car models of the company. There are also speculations that this compact sedan can get the 1.5-litre DV5 turbo diesel power plant as well. The complete specifications and other details are yet to be revealed by the company. The company claims that this upcoming concept sub 4 meter vehicle represents the advanced smart technology.

The company has not revealed the technical specifications of this vehicle. However, it is rumored that this concept version will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine along with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre DV5 turbo diesel engine. Its EcoBoost engine comes with an ability to produce 18.9 Kmpl of mileage, while its DV5 diesel engine might give away a maximum 22.7 Kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.2-litre petrol engine can return 15.6 Kmpl .

Ford has launched the next generation Figo/KA based sedan KA+ in Brazil (remember the concept they showcased at the Auto Expo in February). The Indian launch is slated early next year and the compact sedan will be produced at Ford India's upcoming plant in Sanand, Gujarat along with the next-gen Figo. When launched, it will compete with Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Tata Zest. The vehicle prices in Brazil starts from R$ 37,890 (just over Rs 10 lakh) but in India it will be priced competitively inline with its rivals.
