February 5, 2014: General Motors has unveiled Chevrolet Adra at the Indian Auto Expo 2014, held at Greater Noida. With this model, the company enters a new segment - compact crossover. The Chevy signature front grille with bowie-tie, chrome accents, five spokes alloy wheels, a flat roof and a unique greenhouse give it a very attractive look. To be developed by the General Motors R&D team at GM technical centre in India, this Chevrolet model will challenge its competitors, Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, especially with its ground clearance, plenty of interior space and optimum ground visibility. Sized just 4.2 metres, it may seem to be too compact for some buyers.
Chevrolet India has officially pulled off the covers over its compact SUV model Chevrolet Adra Concept at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The company has introduced this concept model on the base of General Motors's global small vehicle platform. This vehicle comes with under sub 4 meter length and it will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra Quanto in the segment. This concept model comes with a ultra modern body design with close finishing from inch to inch. The company has not revealed anything regarding the technical specifications or features of this vehicle as yet. However, the car market experts believe that this vehicle might be powered by a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel power plant, which is already under the hood of Chevrolet Sail and Enjoy MPV. This latest compact SUV concept comes with a muscular body with its each and every inch crafted to perfection. The company's officials state that this model will create new possibilities for the automaker in this emerging sub 4 meter segment. The engineers at the company have done a great job by blending the neat lines, sleek styling and rugged structure, which has helped in bringing a contemporary new look to this enigmatic looking Chevrolet Adra.
When it comes to the exteriors, this concept version comes with a sleekly designed arrow shaped headlight cluster incorporated with LED headlamps and turn indicator. Just below the hood, there is a slim radiator grille with Chevrolet's gold plated bow tie fitted in the center. Its front bumper has a dual color look with black and a body color scheme. It comes fitted with a large air dam with horizontal slats that adds to the elegant silhouette of its frontage. This bumper also comes with protective cladding fitted under it along with a pair of dynamic fog lamps. From the side facet, this SUV looks even more attractive, thanks to the smooth and flat roof, which is fitted with a stylish pair of roof rails. The company has painted the roof as well as the A and B pillar sills with black color that gives a distinct new look to the vehicle. The company has also blessed this trim with modern interiors that will surely captivate the attention of the buyers as soon as they enter the cabin. Some of the exclusive pictures reveal that this concept vehicle comes with a two tone interior cabin, which gets a three spoke steering wheel covered with leather upholstery. Inside the cabin, you can notice a lot of chrome accentuation on the instrument panel, central console, which adds to the classiness of the interiors. There are a few cup and bottle holders along with a large glove compartment and other storage options as well.
As of now, there is no information regarding the comfort and safety features that are going to be offered with this concept SUV model. However, you can expect some of the most attractive functions including an automatic air conditioning unit with heater, an integrated 2-DIN music system with many input options and speakers, a glove box, central locking system, key less entry and a number of other sophisticated aspects. Coming to the safety, this concept SUV is expected to get features such as ABS with EBD, air bags for enhanced protection of the passengers, an advanced engine immobilizer system and quite a few other advanced aspects. It is too early to say about the launch date or regarding the availability of this compact SUV as the company has not confirmed anything as yet.
